This recipe is an Anglo-Indian adaptation of a Tamil soup Milagu Thanni. 'Milagu' means pepper and 'Thanni' means water. This soup is made with fiery flavors of chili pepper and no black pepper. It usually contains meat, lentils or rice, turmeric and some other spices.

- Simmer lentils in stock with turmeric for 30 minutes.
- Place the potato in the pan and simmer for 20 minutes.

- Add the chicken and stir-fry for two minutes before adding the pureed soup.
