Triphala contains a high amount of vitamin C and minerals. Triphala also contains powerful antioxidants such as galic acid, ellagic acid and chebulic acid. It also contains phenols, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpnoids, glycosides, saponins and tannins and pectin.
Triphala churna contains five of the six flavors known in Ayurveda sweet, sour, bitter, pungent and astringent. It just lacks the salty taste.
Because the taste of bitter is often missing in our Western diet, drinking the tea can be somewhat unpleasant at first. As your system becomes more balanced, it is often the case that the taste you perceive is much sweeter. Triphala is usually taken on an empty stomach, preferably in the evening before going to sleep.
As a dietary supplement, it can be taken daily and can easily be incorporated into food, such as pasta, salads and (fruit) drinks.
Take 125 ml of warm water and mix it with 30 ml of extract and consume twice a day before meals.
