Pongamia oil is derived from the seeds of the Millettia pinnata tree, which is native to tropical and temperate Asia. Other names for this oil include honey oil, kanuga oil, karanja oil and pungai oil.

Pongamia oil is most prized and used for its antiseptic and insecticidal functions. It is also helpful in hair treatment, dark circle removal, foot cream, massage oil, and skin moisturizer.

Pongamia oil is extracted from the seeds by peeling, cold pressing or solvent extraction. The oil is yellow-orange to brown in color. The oil is not suitable for consumption!
